Just when you think the Internet can't get anymore pointless, another fad rises to fame. And without missing a beat, I'm about 3 years behind the times 
Today on Shirt Woot! I got RickRoll'd. I laughed my balls off and then started reading about the Internet fad that I had missed. Almost 14,000,000 (yep, that's million) views on Youtube alone for that single Rick Roll. It took me back to the Dancing Banana singing Peanut Butter Jelly Time! Nothing signals how useful the Internet truly is like the fads do; a pixelated video of a dancing banana and a really bad sound bite about Peanut Butter Jelly Time, not much can beat that!
We spend so much time trying to figure out ways to make the Internet useful, and there have been some amazing technologies that harness the power of the Internet. But in the end, if you can make people smile, give someone a laugh on a difficult day, and create a cultural icon using a 8 bit graphics, that is truly the mark of a gifted generation using their resources to its fullest.
